The Arrecife Local Police were activated on 2,904 occasions in 2011, through the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center 1-1-2, which attended 5,346 incidents in the capital during the past year. The participation of municipal agents in these incidents responds to the actions carried out in the area of coordination of Local Police of the Canary Islands, as reported by the Arrecife City Council through a statement.

According to the report of the Emergency Coordinating Center of the Government of the Canary Islands, of the total incidents that occurred in the municipality of Arrecife during the past year, 1,795 occurred in the last four months. Thus, 431 took place in the month of September with 233 calls to the local police, 453 in October with 241, 426 in November with 233 and 485 in December with 260 requests for collaboration.

Regarding the events, the cases registered for physical violence, which amounted to 879, stand out. Likewise, there were 799 problems with vehicles and 659 for alteration of public order. Also in 2011 in Arrecife, 768 cases of non-physical violence, 37 incidents due to illegal lucrative activities, as well as 172 for consumption and public health, and 135 for minors were registered. A total of 1309 calls referred to other problems, according to these same sources.

The Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the Arrecife City Council, Cristina Marrero, has recalled that the City Council is working to optimize the resources of the State Security Forces and Corps in order to improve security in the municipality. "We have a common goal, which is to solve the problems of citizens. Therefore, it is essential to define the functions of each Corps to improve the resources we have," Marrero said.
