The Investigating Court number 3 of Arrecife has ordered the entry into communicated prison without bail of four people arrested last Tuesday, October 15 in a joint operation by the Civil Guard, the National Police, the Colombian police and Interpol in Lanzarote against trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
In total, in the operation carried out between Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen and Almendralejo, a dozen people were arrested. Of which three have been released provisionally, having to appear in court on the 1st and 15th of each month.
In addition, their passports have been withdrawn and they have been prohibited from leaving the island. This has been reported by the Court's Communication Office to this editorial team.
This operation also resulted in three arrests in Almendralejo (Badajoz). One of the detainees was transferred to provisional prison, while two others were released.
The Investigating Court number 3 of Arrecife, which is handling the case, has lifted the secrecy of the investigation, which began in 2023.
