Agents of the Civil Guard and the National Police have carried out, at least, two searches in Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen within the framework of a joint operation that investigates human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation. This is a national investigation, under which searches are being carried out throughout the country.

According to La Voz, from 5:00 a.m. this Tuesday, a group of police officers from both bodies carried out a search in a nightclub on Avenida de Las Playas in the tourist town of Tías, in the vicinity of Los Pocillos beach. Colombian police and Interpol were also present in the operation.

Meanwhile, the Civil Guard and the National Police, with some agents covered with balaclavas, carried out a second simultaneous search in Yuco street in Arrecife. Several police officers went to the scene. As part of this operation in Yuco street, they searched a white vehicle that was parked on the highway.

The operation is in the exploitation phase and under summary secrecy, so the number of detainees is not known at the moment.
