The pregnant woman, a resident of La Graciosa, was in an advanced state of pregnancy, according to the criteria of the doctor based on the island. Therefore, the NGO of EMERLAN (Emergencies and Rescue of Lanzarote) received the call on the night of Thursday, May 31, requesting the assistance of the volunteers of the NGO to prepare the evacuation by helicopter.
Together with members of the Local Police, four Emerlan volunteers transferred the patient to the helipad, which has recently been equipped with the necessary lighting to carry out night transfers.
The evacuation was carried out without problems around 10:45 p.m., in a medicalized helicopter of the Canary Islands Emergency Service, bound for the General Hospital of Lanzarote.
According to comments from the helicopter pilot himself, the approach to the heliport was carried out without incident, as well as the landing, due to the good lighting conditions.
