Pet clinic in Arrecife reported for alleged mistreatment

The Ademal Association has made public that "several workers" of a store and veterinary clinic in Arrecife, including the veterinarian herself, the nurse (ATV) and a saleswoman, have sued the owners of the establishment "for allegedly ordering the death of several guinea pigs sick with mange who were thrown against the wall by another worker."

According to the association, "for weeks, they were recording videos and audios that have been provided to the complaint before the Seprona and the College of Veterinarians." "In them you can see how they used expired medications and treated animals that died, possibly, for this reason, according to the report of the necropsies performed by this veterinarian concerned about the high rate of deaths in the store," he adds.

Ademal affirms that the complainants have also provided graphic documents "where it is observed how organic food was introduced into the freezer to kill the worms and insects that were inside, a product that had already passed the expiration date."

Likewise, they accuse the managers of allegedly "selling medicines without a prescription and exposing them in the store without being allowed."

In the complaint, they also state "the dirt and unsanitary conditions of the back room where numerous animals for sale were crammed, among excrement, which, according to these workers, were allegedly fed with feed in poor condition, full of weevils and foul-smelling."

In addition, the association explains that "one of the workers who, without being a veterinarian, was occupying her position during the vacation period, had problems with the company since she refused to vaccinate and perform other work that did not correspond to her in the absence of the owner." "For this reason, she had to take leave due to an anxiety crisis caused by the tense situation with management," they point out.

Finally, Ademal points out that this worker "also provides the medical report to the complaint, which reflects the sequelae that the mange contracted in the store has left on her body."
