A part of the Famara cliff has broken off on Tuesday morning, causing a large dust cloud visible from different points of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

According to Enrique Espinosa, manager of the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium, the landslide took place in the area known as El Gallo, in the municipality of Haría.

Despite believing it was a simple landslide, firefighters from La Graciosa have gone to inspect the area by jet ski to rule out the presence of people.

In addition, the Local Police of Haría will also attend shortly to inspect the area from land.
