An emergency team was dispatched on the morning of Sunday, October 26th to the LZ-02, near the cemetery in Tías, due to the risk of fire in a bus.

Volunteer firefighters from Tías, Civil Protection of the municipality, the Local Police, the Civil Guard, and 112 Canarias were mobilized to the scene.

From Civil Protection in Tías, the T-94 fire unit was dispatched to the area with three volunteers and two support units. These volunteers were in charge of evacuating and assisting the passengers, distributing water among those affected. Among the travelers, a 78-year-old person had to be assessed, as they claimed to be dizzy.

The fire unit is collaborating with the on-duty crew of @bomebrosvoluntarioslanzarote, preparing a pressurized water line as a preventive measure, since the bus was emitting smoke due to poor combustion and was overheated.

Once the bus was removed from the road, Protección Civil Tías and the Volunteer Firefighters of Lanzarote cleaned the road with sepiolite.

Vehicle fire in Tías

Civil Protection volunteers in Lanzarote intervened again on Sunday afternoon at the roundabout of the Instituto de Puerto del Carmen, on Avenida Islas Canarias, following the alert of a vehicle on fire.

A fire unit and a support vehicle were mobilized to the scene. The affected vehicle was emitting white smoke from the coolant water vapor. The occupants of the vehicle saw fire coming out of the hood.

A pressurized water line was deployed in the area, they proceeded to open the hood and disconnect the vehicle's battery.

On this occasion, sepiolite was also applied to the coolant spill, and the vehicle was removed from the road by a crane.
