Vandalism was present during the last night of the year, ruining part of the Christmas decoration that the Arrecife City Council had placed on Alférez Cabrera Tavío street. Specifically, about 20 meters of the red carpet that adorned that street, now converted into a pedestrian street, to create an atmosphere in the center of the capital during these holidays have disappeared.
Both the City Council and the Chamber of Commerce have lamented the "lack of civic-mindedness" of those responsible for this act of vandalism.
In addition to the economic damage, since the complete installation of the carpet cost about 900 euros, this has also led to a deterioration in the image of the area, where only a part of the carpet remains.
Now, the City Council is studying whether to relocate the part that has disappeared, although they do not know if they will be able to get the material before the holidays end, since it was bought outside the island.
