The Civil Guard in the framework of Operation "PILUMNUS" has arrested 102 people, one of them in Lanzarote, for possession and distribution of explicit material of sexual abuse of minors on the Internet. The operation has been carried out in the provinces of Alicante, Almería, Catalonia, Barcelona, Bilbao, Burgos, Coruña, Algeciras, Cádiz, Ceuta, Córdoba, Castellón, Canary Islands, Granada, Huelva, Huesca, Balearic Islands, Jaén, León, Logroño, Madrid, Málaga, Murcia, Navarra, Oviedo, Pontevedra, Santander, Salamanca, Seville, San Sebastián, Tarragona, Tenerife, Toledo, Valencia and Valladolid.

More than 450,000 explicit files of sexual abuse of minors have been seized (videos and frames in which sexual abuse of minors from babies to children of 14 years old is reproduced), in addition to some files where scenes of a high content of sexual violence exerted on minor victims are appreciated.

92 home entries and searches have been carried out in the different Spanish provinces where a total of 408 Hard Drives, 67 USB devices, 40 laptops, 9 CPUs, 6 SD memory cards, 1 Router, 1700 DVDs, 1 photo camera, 2 video cameras, 2 MAC computers, 6 tablets and 1 NAS were seized.

The investigation began after the daily tracking carried out by the Civil Guard on the Internet, obtaining knowledge of users of file-sharing networks, who are detected downloading explicit files of sexual abuse of minors and who are located in the different provinces where the arrests of those involved have been carried out.

In order to identify the detainees, it was necessary to analyze more than 6,000 explicit files of sexual abuse of minors with the preparation of 120 technical-expert reports, as well as coordination with more than 100 investigating courts that understood the investigated facts.

After carrying out the forensic analysis of the seized material, it was possible to locate thousands of files of explicit content in which sexual abuse of minors was shown and that accredited the participation of the detainees in the crimes of possession and distribution of the same through the Internet.

So far, 10 minor victims of sexual abuse have been identified, and identification work is continuing in order to clarify the largest number of crimes against minors that are being investigated.

A total of 36 units of the Headquarters of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard have participated in the operation throughout the national territory, with 136 agents specialized in technological crimes and in the protection of minors and another 200 agents in support tasks from various Units of the Civil Guard.
