A 71-year-old woman died in a head-on collision that occurred around 10:30 p.m. this Sunday on the Matagorda road in Puerto del Carmen, as reported by the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium. In addition, in the collision, two other people were seriously injured.
The deceased was from Puerto del Carmen. After being alerted by the CECOES, agents of the Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, two ambulances and firefighters from the Emergency Consortium were dispatched. Upon arrival, the emergency teams found that the drivers were trapped inside the two cars. The firefighters extricated the two affected individuals. One of them was in cardiorespiratory arrest, so they began to perform CPR maneuvers until the doctor on duty certified her death.
Another occupant of one of the vehicles was outside the vehicle lying on the asphalt of the road. Paramedics attended to the other injured, the other driver presented a serious abdominal trauma and the man presented serious polytrauma. Both were transferred in ambulances, one medicalized and one basic life support to Molina Orosa.
The Local Police was in charge of regulating traffic and the Civil Guard instructed the corresponding proceedings.
