National Police agents arrested a minor on the morning of Tuesday, February 3, for a crime of robbery with violence in the middle of the street in Arrecife.
The events occurred around 11:00 AM on a street in the capital of Lanzarote, when a woman was surprised by the now-detained man. According to the National Police, the minor used the "snatch method", snatched the mobile phone she was carrying in her hand and also tried to steal her bag.As a consequence of the violence employed by the assailant, the victim, a 25-year-old young woman, fell to the ground and suffered various injuries.
Several citizens who were in the vicinity went to the woman's aid after hearing her screams, they initiated a foot pursuit and managed to quickly catch up to and detain the suspect, until the arrival of police units.
Once the CIMMAC 091 operations room was alerted by witnesses, a police unit was dispatched to the scene, which after interviewing the victim and witnesses proceeded to arrest the minor as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery with violence.
Due to the injuries sustained during the assault, the victim was attended by health services and subsequently transferred to the General Hospital.
Once the police proceedings were concluded, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office
