NC warns of a "wave of thefts" on El Reducto beach

"The scarce police presence in the area makes these criminals more comfortable and these robberies are continuous," they argue from this party?

Nueva Canarias has sent a statement in which it assures that in recent weeks "thefts have increased on El Reducto beach, a fact that has been occurring almost daily in these summer months." According to NC, "residents and tourists complain about this situation of helplessness and clear insecurity, appreciating that despite the protests, the Arrecife City Council continues to turn a deaf ear to this alarming situation."

The party even warns of the existence of alleged "organized gangs", which "in the middle of summer and when the capital's beach is packed, are dedicated, taking advantage of the distraction of bathers when they go to the water, to steal their belongings."

From Nueva Canarias they affirm that residents of the area, "witnesses of what happened", have conveyed this situation to them. "They comment that these thieves are perfectly identifiable, always supported by a third party who from the avenue, and with a broader view of the area, sends a telephone warning to the others to commit the crime."

Regarding the victims, they affirm that it is usually "distracted people who stay in hotels in the area, usually from the peninsula and foreigners who want to spend a few days of vacation in Arrecife."

Faced with this situation, the party affirms that the people of Arrecife are "tired of promises about increasing surveillance." "Security is not controlled and this summer the area has experienced waves of robberies, with what this implies for tourism and the image of the island of Lanzarote itself," they insist from NC.

For this reason, they ask the mayor of Arrecife, Manuel Fajardo Feo, for a special plan increasing the number of police officers in this area of the beach. "In this way, these criminals would think twice before committing a crime, avoiding the bad image that we give to tourism in reference to insecurity," they conclude.
