The ruling regarding the misdemeanor trial held on September 11 as a result of an altercation between the Fisheries Councilor, Marcos Páez, and an Environmental Warden, Jeremías Cabrera, last April, has condemned the two complainants, and in turn defendants, to mutually compensate each other for misdemeanor of injury. Cabrera has already stated that he will not appeal the ruling, because he wants to "forget the altercation", although he has not been satisfied with the ruling.

The ruling determines that Marcos Páez has to pay a larger amount to Jeremías Cabrera due to the severity of the injuries caused. A fine that amounts to forty-five days at a rate of six euros per day, 1,510.50 in total, while the compensation to be paid by the warden has been set at 216.96 euros, which corresponds to a penalty of one month at a rate of six euros per day. Similarly, they have been condemned to bear the court costs, since they are considered criminally responsible for the misdemeanors and the Court has concluded that it was "a mutually accepted fight by both parties, with no record of who started first".

The document considers the injuries of the two defendants to be proven, by the reports issued by the Canary Islands Emergency Service, and which have been provided in the complaint, as well as by "the forensic medical reports of both". Jeremías Cabreraregistered contusions and "small erosions" and Marcos Páez ended the fight with "scratches on the face and ears and millimetric scars on the inner side of the upper lip".

The altercation that has led to this ruling occurred on April 1 at the Bar "Puerto Naos", in Arrecife. The two now convicted mutually assaulted each other, according to the ruling, "falling to the floor of the mentioned premises and hitting each other with their hands".Jeremías Cabrera suffered injuries "that took 30 days to heal" and that prevented him from working, while Marcos Páez took "8 days" to recover, but was able to continue performing his work.

Jeremías Cabrera has been acquitted of the crime of insult, of which he was also accused, since according to the ruling it has not been proven that the warden blurted out to Páez epithets such as "all politicians are crooks (?) I don't know what you're doing in politics (?) You're worthless, you're trash".
