A supermarket in Costa Teguise, located next to the Los Gurrupitos housing estate, was robbed on Tuesday afternoon. According to one of the shop assistants who was working at the time of the robbery, "an older man entered with his face covered by a towel, with holes for his eyes, nose and mouth".

According to this witness, the thief went straight to the till and, seeing that he couldn't open it, grabbed one of the shop assistants and threatened her with a knife to her neck while shouting: "I don't want to kill anyone". The shop assistant opened the till, while her colleague escaped into the street, from where she called the Civil Guard on her mobile phone.

The workers say that the thief took all the banknotes from the till, which amounted to about 500 euros, and ran out of the premises. "He was nervous and slapped the till, throwing all the coins, I suppose because he saw me outside calling". Moments later, Civil Guard patrols arrived at the scene, although so far they have not managed to find the suspect.

Second robbery

This is the second robbery that the owners of the establishment have faced in a month, although on the first occasion the robbery did not materialise.

It was on 25 January when an assailant entered another Golden supermarket, also located in Costa Teguise. According to the account of one of the employees, the man pointed a gun at a shop assistant, but when a customer entered through the door, he put the gun away and told her it was a joke, and left the establishment without consummating the robbery.
