The Civil Guard is investigating whether the occupants of the car that crashed in Playa Blanca on Wednesday night are related to an attempted robbery that occurred in a hotel in the tourist town half an hour before the incident. In the vehicle, which is also suspected of being stolen, clothing similar to that worn by the person who attempted to rob the tourist complex was found.
Around 8 p.m., the Benemérita received a call from a person who had surprised a hooded individual trying to open the safe of a hotel in Playa Blanca, who fled the scene. Civil Guard agents and Local Police then went to the scene, and while they were carrying out a visual inspection and talking to the witness, who provided a physical description of the perpetrator, they received a notice of the accident.
In the car, according to witnesses of the accident, there were at least three people, who tried to start the car after crashing into the wall of another hotel in Playa Blanca and, failing to do so, ran away from the scene. The Civil Guard suspects that the occupants of the vehicle are the perpetrators of the attempted robbery, at least one of them. And, in the vehicle, clothing with similar characteristics and certain tools used to open safes were found, such as special screwdrivers, according to sources from the Benemérita.
In addition, it is suspected that the vehicle may be stolen. And, although there is no theft report, the car had a crossed ignition. In this regard, the Civil Guard has indicated that they have contacted the woman who is listed as the owner of the car but, apparently, she sold the vehicle some time ago without the transfer being made. Thus, the Benemérita has opened an investigation to clarify the facts and locate the perpetrators.
