Arrecife Local Police officers have seized more than half a thousand counterfeit items. The discovery occurred a few weeks ago, when officers stopped a vehicle during a preventive check and proceeded to inspect the merchandise it was carrying.

Following their inspection, it was determined that the merchandise they were carrying, including designer handbags, wallets, and backpacks, showed signs of being counterfeit, leading to their seizure. Among the counterfeit brands were Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Michael Kors.

Among the seized items were also numerous plates with the brand logos used to assemble the leather goods to give them the appearance of original products.

The Local Police of Arrecife have long maintained deployments against the sale of counterfeit goods and to protect legitimate commerce, safeguarding both consumers and businesses against counterfeiting and fraud.

The seized merchandise was allegedly intended for sale in the main flea markets of Lanzarote. After the appropriate proceedings were initiated, it has been made available to the judicial authority, and the facts have also been notified to the affected brands for their involvement in the case as injured parties.

The Local Police reminds that the sale of counterfeit products carries prison sentences ranging from six months to two years, as well as high compensation to the affected brands
