Fred Olsen Avenue in Arrecife has already been reopened to traffic and at noon this Friday it was expected that residents could return to their homes, as confirmed by the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa.

Around 12 o'clock, Arrecife City Council workers, in the presence of National Police and Civil Protection officers, proceeded to remove the fences that were installed last Thursday, February 28 to establish a security perimeter, after a pillar in the basement of the building gave way. The cause was some works that a company was carrying out and the residents of about thirty homes were evicted due to the "obvious danger" in its structure.

On the morning of this Friday, the Security and Emergency Consortium reported that the evacuated building already had a "positive" report from an engineer after the first intervention that was required in the building to be inhabited again, which consisted of the installation of three metal beams to reinforce it. However, it was pending the architect's approval and presenting it to the City Council to authorize the entry of the neighbors, a procedure that has already been carried out, as confirmed by the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium.

However, as Enrique Espinosa explained, the neighbors will still not be able to use the building's garage, since "jacketing" work will still have to be carried out, which could be extended "one or two weeks".
