Four people, including two children, have been injured to varying degrees when a tree fell on them at the table where they were dining in a restaurant in the Pueblo Marinero of Costa Teguise. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. this Friday, when the dragon tree in one of the corners broke and fell on them. Two SUC ambulances, Local Police and Civil Guard officers, and firefighters from the Lanzarote Emergency and Security Consortium have been dispatched to the scene.
The firefighters first had to assist the woman, as she had been hit in the head and they had to free her as she had been trapped under the dragon tree, according to reports from Cecoes. Once stabilized, she was transferred to the Molina Orosa hospital in the medicalized ambulance, according to Cecoes, and suffered multiple injuries of a less serious nature.
While the different emergency services were arriving at the scene, a doctor and a nurse from a nearby health center assisted the injured, especially the main injured party. For his part, the man suffered mild multiple injuries, while the children had superficial wounds and suffered a mild anxiety attack, all three were evacuated in the basic ambulance to the hospital.
The officers of the Local Police of Teguise have cordoned off the area for security and later the firefighters have cut down what remained of the tree. The Civil Guard officers have helped in all the emergency tasks. The Local Police have taken charge of the corresponding proceedings.
