Emergency services prevented a 33-year-old man from taking his own life in a house in Playa Blanca early this Thursday morning, according to the Security Consortium.
The man, originally from Galicia and residing on the island, was shouting on the roof of the house, apparently with his mental faculties altered. Agents of the Civil Guard, Local Police, an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service and firefighters have traveled to the scene.
The firefighters placed a ladder so that the Civil Guard and Local Police could go up and try to reason with him, "which at first was not possible", they point out from the Cabildo. Subsequently, the firefighters had to help hold and reduce the man between them all.
Finally, the medical services were able to medicate him to calm him down and transfer him by ambulance to the José Molina Orosa Hospital.
