The National Police have arrested a couple, a woman and a man of 35 and 38 years old, respectively, both with police records in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. She is charged with attempted homicide and domestic abuse, while he is charged with gender violence.

On January 5, mid-morning, the National Police received a notice through the CIMACC 091 Room, alerting that a fight with knives was taking place in a family home in the Tamaraceite neighborhood, on the neighboring island.

Once at the scene, the police unit was required by a man who was agitated and nervous, presenting wounds caused by a knife and asking for help from the agents. The man assured the agents that his partner had a knife and had threatened to stab their one-year-old baby, after allegedly trying to strangle him previously.

The police officers proceeded to quickly enter the house where they found the woman in "an evident state of alteration" sitting on the sofa in the living room, holding the baby in her arms. The agents did not observe any signs of violence in the minor.

For security reasons, the unit removed a ham-type knife with a wooden handle and a blade of approximately 25 centimeters from the scene, which was on the seat of the sofa right next to the woman, as well as a multi-tool knife that was on the living room table, and which, according to the woman's version, her partner had used against her.

Once the area was secured, the agents requested the presence of the health services who assisted and treated the wounds presented by the man who had to be transferred to the Doctor Negrín hospital center. Both the baby and her mother were also examined by the health personnel and did not require significant assistance.

After hearing the versions of those involved, the police unit proceeded with the arrest of both, with the minor being handed over to her maternal grandmother. Once the proceedings were completed at the police station, both detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
