A British tourist, Dan Boyle, who was vacationing in Lanzarote, is between life and death after falling from the third floor of a hotel on the island last April, according to several British media. The man was traveling with his girlfriend, Ashleigh Lomas, who was with him before and during the event.
According to his partner, "the young man suffered from undiagnosed pneumonia," which is what caused him to "fall from the third floor." Doctors believe that "his lungs filled with fluid due to a chest infection" and that caused "his heart to stop beating." At that moment was when he "fell off the balcony."
After the incident, another tourist performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him and he was transferred to the José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife. Once there, it was confirmed that in the fall, he suffered a skull fracture and sternum, a torn kidney, and a broken rib.
After examining him, he was flown from Lanzarote to a hospital in Gran Canaria, where he underwent brain surgery and an operation on his kidney. After the intervention, he was in an induced coma for four weeks.
According to doctors, they believe he will have "really serious" brain damage, although they will not know the extent of that damage until Dan Boyle is fully awake. They have informed the family that "he is now conscious but still cannot communicate with anyone."

The accident occurred "the day after his vacation started" and Ashleigh Lomas recalls that they were both "laughing and joking," just half an hour before it happened.
In addition, according to his partner, the man needs a medical flight to return to his city of residence, Manchester. A service that will cost about 35,000 dollars, money that the family does not have and is raising so that he can "receive the necessary care" back home.
