The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías has arrested the tourist Paul M., 34 years old, from Kettering (United Kingdom) and staying on vacation in a tourist complex in Puerto del Carmen, accused of an alleged crime of attempted homicide resulting in injuries.
The events originated in the early hours of this Monday, around 2:00 a.m., in a nightclub located on Avenida de Las Playas in Puerto del Carmen, where the detainee had an argument with the doorman of the premises, a Cuban citizen also 34 years old.
During the aforementioned verbal dispute and just at the moment when the employee of the establishment turned his back to avoid further discussion, the tourist brandished a corkscrew-type instrument, according to reports from the Civil Guard, "with which he dealt a strong impact against the cervical area of the victim, causing a sharp and deep wound that fortunately did not affect any sensitive organ".
The victim was transferred by ambulance to the Tías Health Center and later referred to the Emergency Service of the General Hospital of Arrecife for a better observation of the wound, requiring the application of half a dozen stitches, being discharged from medical discharge once the doctors performed a series of radiological tests.
On the morning of this Tuesday, the Civil Guard has transferred the detainee to the headquarters of the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Arrecife, where he will testify before the Judicial Authority.
