National Police agents have arrested in Arrecife a 59-year-old man, with a police record for similar events, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health.
So far this year, a total of 9 mules have been arrested at Lanzarote airport when they were trying to introduce narcotic substances into the island hidden in their bodies.
The investigation carried out by agents of the Judicial Police Brigade of the National Police Station in Arrecife, after the arrest of these people, made it possible to determine that the now arrested man was the recipient of part of these narcotic substances.
After requesting the corresponding search and entry warrant, two searches were carried out, one in the call center run by the detainee and another in the house where he resided. As a result of the searches, a total of 330 grams of cocaine, 270 grams of heroin and 11,500 euros in cash were seized, for which he was finally arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime.
Once the appropriate procedures were completed, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court No. 2 of Arrecife, who coordinated the investigations in collaboration with the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office of Lanzarote, ordering his imprisonment.
