Manolo Millares Street (formerly José Antonio) will remain closed to traffic, in principle, until next Monday, October 19, in the section between Antonio Porlier and Sopranis streets (formerly Alférez Cabrera Tavío) and Río Oro.
Likewise, pedestrian access will also be closed in the section between numbers 28 and 32 of that same road.
As explained by the Councilor for Urban Planning of the Arrecife City Council, Samuel Martín, the decision is made for security reasons after detecting a structural problem in a house located at number 30.
"Due to this problem, the roof of the house has collapsed and the facade has begun to crack," explained the councilor, who also reported that members of the local police of Arrecife and Civil Protection, the head of the Municipal Technical Office and the firefighters have moved to the affected area this afternoon.
"We have notified the construction company that has already shored up the building so that there is no danger of collapse, so the street will not be opened to traffic or pedestrians until we have the absolute certainty that there will be no type of incident," he clarified.
The councilor also apologizes for the inconvenience that this decision may cause to the residents and insists that "it is the only way to guarantee the safety of all people and vehicles that circulate daily through that area."
