The young María E.O., 14 years old, resident of San Fernando de Maspalomas, died this Monday at Disneyland Resort Paris, after having ridden one of its roller coasters. The reasons for the death are still unknown pending the results of the autopsy, but it is suspected that it may be due to a medical problem.
The event occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. local time, when the young woman from Gran Canaria lost consciousness inside the Rockn'Roller Coaster, a roller coaster in Walt Disney Studios Park. This attraction has a warning advising pregnant women and people with a history of heart problems not to ride, and the circumstance is that the victim had two sisters who died from heart-related problems.
The victim was traveling in the amusement park with her classmates from the Agüañac public school, from El Tablero, and was planning to spend a few days at the Cheyenne hotel, located in the Disney parks, west of Paris, in Marne-la-Valée.
María's classmates wanted to return to Gran Canaria as soon as possible after what happened. However, due to problems derived from the travel agency, they will remain in Paris until Thursday. For this reason, the parents of the minors are upset, since they understand that in these difficult times and after the unfortunate event, they should already be at home.
