A young man from Lanzarote lost his life this Wednesday after suffering a traffic accident, around 5:30 p.m. The other two occupants of the crashed vehicle were injured, one of them with mild head trauma, back and side pain, and another with disorientation and back pain.
The accident occurred on the Güime road, at the exit of Arrecife, when the crashed vehicle, which was traveling at high speed, left the road, rolling over several times after making, according to eyewitnesses, "a reckless overtaking". The car, a black Peugeot 205, was reduced to scrap metal, with several pieces of the vehicle scattered around the area, up to more than 200 meters away.
Two ambulances arrived at the crash site and, despite attempting to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the young man who was more seriously injured, with polytrauma, they were unable to save his life.
The other seriously injured person had a head injury and several wounds that required stitches. He was later transferred to the Hospital by an Emerlan ambulance.
The third occupant was evacuated by a Red Cross ambulance and had injuries to the lumbar region.
In addition to several ambulances, members of the Arrecife local police and the fire department were transferred to the scene.
