Two people had to be rescued on Matagorda beach, after the mattress they were on was being dragged by the wind, moving away from the coast.
The event took place at around 5 p.m. this Thursday, when the lifeguard on duty had to enter the water to reach the mattress, "reassuring them and assisting them" until leaving them on the shore of the beach.
The victims, a woman and a minor under 15 years of age from abroad, who were on vacation on the island, did not need further medical assistance, according to Emerlan. "They only showed nervousness and some fatigue."
From Emerlan they remind all those who use mattresses, inflatables or any other similar element, that they "never" abandon it if they are dragged by the wind. "They must stay on them and signal to the coast requesting help."
