Operators of a company specialized in unclogging have taken out this Wednesday "a real pile of wet wipes" in a pumping station of the old Partial Plan Playa Blanca, where failures and problems in the sanitation network have been repeated for some time.
This has been warned from the City Council of Yaiza, which after this episode has made "a new call to raise citizen awareness to avoid damage to the environment and sanitation systems due to the action produced by throwing wet wipes into the toilet".
In this regard, they recall that this problem is being experienced repeatedly in Playa Blanca, "where failures have been detected in the network due to the formation and accumulation of masses of this type of waste that clog pipes and can pollute the sea." "The solution is in our hands and it only takes putting a trash can next to the toilet," say from the City Council, whose technicians have been this Wednesday at the affected pumping station together with the Councilor for Water of Yaiza, Emilio Machín.
This call is not the first made by the Consistory, which stresses that at the time it joined the campaign undertaken by Canal Gestión Lanzarote, the company responsible for the production, supply, sewerage, treatment and reuse of water on the Island, "which called for adding the effort and complicity of citizens through the practice of good habits and behaviors to maintain the island's hydraulic infrastructure in optimal conditions and above all take care of the natural environment".
