Around 14:10 hours, the Red Cross and Emerlan received a notice that a small boat had capsized (turned on itself), in the Punta Gorda area, between Playa Quemada and Papagayo, alerting that its two crew members were missing.

An Emerlan rescue boat moved to the area and found the lifeless body of one of the crew members "near the boat". Emerlan has been in charge of transferring the body to Puerto del Carmen, following the orders of the Judicial Authority, who has taken charge of the body.
The second of the crew members, a man who could be around eighty years old, managed to save his life thanks to reaching the coast by swimming. He was the person who gave the notice through the 112 emergency phone.
