A 44-year-old man of British origin has died by drowning this afternoon at Playa Grande in the municipality of Tías.
At 4:03 p.m. a call alerted the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 communicating that a man had been rescued from the sea by Emerlan. 1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources. A basic life support ambulance and a medicalized SUC ambulance, agents of the Local Police and the Civil Guard went to the scene.
Emerlan personnel, who had rescued the affected person from the sea, verified that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest and performed basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. These maneuvers were resumed, in their advanced stage, by the medical personnel of the SUC without obtaining results, which confirmed the death of the swimmer.
The Local Police collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources. The Civil Guard was in charge of the custody of the deceased until the arrival of the judicial authority and instructed the corresponding proceedings.
