The Arrecife City Council has ordered the eviction of one of the houses in Titerroy pending rehabilitation after part of its ceiling collapsed, as confirmed to La Voz by the Councillor for Public Works, Roberto Herbón.
As explained by the councillor, it was around five o'clock in the morning when part of the ceiling of the living room of this house collapsed, although luckily there were no personal injuries. The only resident was in an adjoining room at the time of the events. "He had already heard some noise, because it is falsified with a wooden ceiling, but that cushioned the blow a little when it collapsed," he said.
Specifically, according to Roberto Herbón, it was "the bottom part of the ceiling, the vault, that fell". "The ceiling has not been uncovered, only the bottom part, a hole of about 3x2 meters, half of the ceiling," he specified.
After that, on Wednesday morning, firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium and personnel from the Arrecife City Council, including a technician from the Technical Office, went to the affected house, located at number 41 of the Tinamala house.
"Initially it was going to be propped up, but finally it will be evicted for security reasons, because as the ceilings are falsified with wood, we don't know how the rest are," said the Councillor for Public Works, who also went to the scene, which was also attended by the Mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, and other councillors from the government group.
