The fire declared this past Monday afternoon in the [Avenida de Las Playas in Puerto del Carmen->https://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=2807], in which a firefighter was injured after manipulating an electrical panel, finally resulted in the total loss of a building occupied by six commercial establishments and five apartments, which ended up burned by the flames that ravaged the area for almost four hours.

The Local Police of Tías confirmed this Tuesday through a statement the suspicions that sources close to the case were already considering last Monday, as lavozdelanzaote.com had already reported. Given that the fire could have started from an uncontrolled flame emitted by a small camping-gas canister with which an employee of one of the stores was preparing his lunch, the Local Police does not rule out making an arrest in the next few hours for a possible crime of negligence resulting in damages.

But this fire coincided with another, this one of lesser magnitude, which also originated this Monday but around 9:00 p.m. and this time in the Jamaica bar, in the area known as La Rapadura de Arrecife.

According to eyewitnesses, the rapid intervention of personnel from the Fire Extinction Service of the Island Council of Lanzarote prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring homes, and that there were no fatalities to regret.

Despite this, the bar was engulfed in flames and its furniture was completely burned, to the astonishment of numerous passersby and onlookers who stopped in the area. At the moment, the causes that originated this fire have not been clarified. The regulars to this place will have to wait at least several weeks to be able to return to it.
