A boat with about twenty immigrants of Maghreb origin arrived this Thursday morning in La Graciosa, specifically at Pedro Barba beach. The security forces have located 14 of the occupants, but according to the Teguise City Council, there were 24 people on board, so the search operation for the rest continues. Among the immigrants located are three women and four men injured by hypothermia, who have been transferred to the health center of the eighth island
According to what they have transferred from the Civil Guard, it was a fisherman who, at 11:05 a.m., alerted of the arrival of the boat, with Emerlan, Local Police and a medical team from the health center immediately moving to the place.
At first, the Local Police located 13 of the immigrants but, later, around 2:00 p.m., the Civil Guard, whose arrival was scheduled to the eighth island, reported that an occupant had been located. From the Benemérita they have also indicated that it has not yet been possible to determine if there are minors, although someone has referred it to the agents.
All immigrants will be transferred by sea to the Port of Órzola and from there to Arrecife for delivery to the National Police, as reported by the Civil Guard
It must be remembered that a week ago another boat arrived in Lanzarote, specifically at Famara beach. In this case, the boat also brought drugs and 13 immigrants were intercepted, seizing 116 kilos of hashish. Seven of them, including the alleged skipper of the boat, were brought to justice after being arrested by the Civil Guard and the Local Police. Six were sent to provisional prison for crimes against public health, while the seventh was released on charges for the same crimes but to a lesser degree.
