A Condor airline plane had to make an emergency landing this Friday at the Fuerteventura airport after suffering a breakdown when a bird entered one of the two engines just after taking off from Lanzarote-César Manríque bound for the German city of Hamburg. This was stated by the manager of the Emergency Consortium to La Voz.
The aircraft managed to land without major incidents after even the inhabitants of Playa Honda saw flames and heard the explosions coming from the fuselage.
Lanzarotewebcam that broadcasts live from the airport recorded the moment of takeoff and "you can hear the deafening sound when it flies over the webcam"
The incident occurred around two in the afternoon. The aircraft, a Boeing 757-330 with registration number D-ABOB and 23 years old, took off from Guacimeta at 1:58 p.m. Ahead was a four and a half hour flight to northern Germany. However, seconds after being in the air, it suffered a failure in the right engine.
According to the controllers themselves on their Twitter account, "probably" the option of landing in Maxorata was chosen due to the length of the runway, which is just over a kilometer longer than that of Lanzarote (3,405 meters by 2,400, respectively), although in both cases the permitted landing distance is the same (2,400).
