A Condor plane that took off at noon this Friday from Lanzarote airport suffered a fire in one of its engines, which forced it to make an emergency landing in Fuerteventura.
The flight was heading to Hamburg, Germany, but was diverted to the neighboring island after the flames were detected after takeoff, according to the Emergency and Security Consortium.
A witness to the events, who was at that time in the industrial area of Playa Honda, told La Voz that he saw "a flash" as soon as the plane took off. "It wasn't normal," warned this reader, who also heard a loud noise.
Lanzarotewebcam that broadcasts live from the airport captured the moment of takeoff and "you can hear the deafening sound when it flies over the webcam"
For their part, from the Twitter account of the air controllers they have communicated that the plane has landed without further incidents in Fuerteventura, where the runway is already operational after the incident.
