A bicycle rental company, based in Puerto del Carmen, has reported that this week it has suffered two robberies in the area of the Arrecife Gran Hotel in the capital of Lanzarote.
The thefts occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, when two bicycles were stolen in this area from tourists who had rented them. "One of the tourists told us that when he parked the bicycle there were three others and that when he returned there were none and the chains were cut," they point out from the company.
The company has already warned tourists to "be careful in Arrecife". And, they say, they have been renting bikes "for years" and it had not "happened before". "There must be a group that is dedicated to stealing in this area", he points out.
The company has gone to the authorities to make them aware of it. The Local Police informed them that "they had no powers to do so" and they went to the National Police, where they indicated that they should make the complaint "by telephone", given the requests for complaints they had.
