An 83-year-old woman died this Saturday while at Pedro Barba beach in La Graciosa. The event took place around 1 p.m., when some bathers found the woman floating face down in the sea.
After taking the victim out of the water and notifying the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security, the basic life support ambulance from Emerlan was dispatched to the area. Paramedics performed resuscitation maneuvers on the woman, who was in cardiorespiratory arrest, but they were unsuccessful. Finally, a doctor who was in the area confirmed the death.
Local Police and Civil Guard officers also went to the scene and were in charge of carrying out the corresponding procedures.
