Yaiza hosted this Friday night the traditional festival of the Rubicón Folklore Group of Yaiza, which in this edition the chosen theme was 'Mararía', by the Tenerife writer Rafael Arozarena. An event that is part of the program of the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Los Remedios.

The festival began with the staging of a ballroom in which men and women enjoyed dancing and chatting, when suddenly a woman appears on the scene, with a slender silhouette dressed in black, becoming the center of attention of those present, it was she, Mararía, tempted by men and criticized by women. Meanwhile, in the background, the chords of the song Mararía composed by Pedro Guerra and sung by the guest soloist Iván Quintana were heard.

After this staging, the festival took its usual rhythm with the chords of the touch body, on this occasion reinforced by professional musicians directed by Professor Roberto Gil, who were joined by the dance body, women and men very in tune in each of the choreographies directed by Professor Magdalena Cáceres.

The direction of the Rubicón Folklore Group each year has the voices of outstanding soloists in folklore and this edition featured two young people with extensive experience in interpreting any musical genre. One of them was Iván Quintana who comes from El Carrizal de Ingenio in Gran Canaria and Cristián Morales, a resident of the town of La Hoya in the municipality of Yaiza. The public enjoyed their voices, a one-on-one in which they performed isas, seguidillas, folías, malagueñas, sorondongo and saranda that were interspersed with other genres performed by the touch body. Pop songs such as Ya te olvidé by the Mexican singer Yuridia, Hasta que vuelvas conmigo by the Peruvian singer Gian Marco or Te hubieras ido antes by the Venezuelan singer Ricardo Montaner, these songs were sung by the members Carlota Camacho, José Peña and Alexia Caraballo.

The festival ended with the lively airs of an isa parrandera, counting on the complicity of the attending public who were encouraged to dance with the members and rewarded them with their applause.
