Teguise closed the book week "with enormous participation and acceptance" this Sunday by the citizens. Thus, the library of La Villa de Teguise, the Castle of Santa Bárbara and the streets of the historic center were the stages where the musical stories show "El bolero de Levar" was held.
Among the activities carried out, the bookmark and sock puppet making workshops, the storytelling sessions for the whole family, and the presentation of the books stood out: “El caballero majorero. Don Majorero” by Álex Santana, “Bogando entre líneas” by Ignacio Romero, “El secreto del viejo diablo de Timanfaya” by Lorena Curbelo.
For the second consecutive year, books were distributed in public spaces such as benches, playgrounds, fountains or steps "with the purpose of being acquired free of charge by the residents and thus encouraging the love of reading," explains the Councilor for Libraries, Sara Bermúdez.
This Teguise book week also served to start the “Esperanza Spínola” poetry contest. The deadline for submitting works is extended until July 1, 2023 and will have three prizes of 500, 300 and 200 euros.
Love and Heartbreak Letters
On the other hand, the Castle of Santa Bárbara was the venue for the jury's decision of the XVII Love and Heartbreak Letters contest Los Novios del Mojón 2023, whose first prize went to Cristóbal Martínez (Águilas-Murcia) with the work “When are you coming back?”. The second prize went to Elena Navarro (Zaragoza) and her letter entitled “Don Cirilo” and the third to the letter “Your eyes transparent like grapes” by María José Collado (Madrid).
