Tías celebrates this month its patron saint festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria and San Blas, which will take place from January 23 to February 3. The program, headed by the reading of the proclamation by María Azucena Rodríguez Hernández, includes music, children's workshops, the traditional frying and sporting events.
"This celebration is an event that marks the beginning of the festivities in our municipality and that allows us to enjoy our traditions, our culture and, above all, the closeness between neighbors and visitors," said today the mayor, José Juan Cruz, during the presentation of the festival program offered at the Casa Señor Justo.
The first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the Councilor for Festivities, Miriam Hernández, also presided over the event and highlighted the transversal work of the different council departments. Saavedra took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the participating groups, "because the truth is that we are gradually achieving that these parties are participatory and collaborative, highlighting the social achievements."
Miriam Hernández thanked the City Council staff, "which makes possible the coordinated organization of the 60 programmed events, a laborious task as practically all departments are involved." Hernández stressed that there are activities for children, adolescents and adults, while encouraging citizens to participate in them.
Among the numerous events, the reading of the proclamation stands out, by María Azucena Rodríguez Hernández, which will take place on Friday, January 24, at 8:00 p.m. in the church of La Candelaria.
The closing of the festivities will take place on Sunday, February 2, with the procession in honor of Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria, and on Monday, February 3, with the religious function in honor of San Blas. The program can be consulted at www.ayuntamientodetias.es
