The Yaiza City Council publicly expresses its "feeling of gratitude" for the "enormous response" that the Lanzarote Book Fair (Fiera del Libro) had over the weekend, held from Thursday to Sunday in the Plaza de Los Remedios de Yaiza and its surroundings, which writes in prose and also in verse an unprecedented success in literary events in Lanzarote, motivated by a dynamic and generous program in letters and other arts and the presence of internationally recognized authors such as the Colombian Héctor Abad Faciolince, who shared in Yaiza his narrative experience of his novel 'Save my heart, everything is fine'.
Óscar Noda highlights the “organization of the "Association of Booksellers and Publishers of Lanzarote Isla Literaria" and "the coordination established with the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the City Council, to meet and enjoy everyone around letters.” Yaiza also highlights "the support for culture from the Centers for Arts, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote, Relaxia Resort and the Chacón Group".
"Readers enjoyed a beautiful experience because they heard firsthand the reasons for the writers' inspiration and then were able to convey their concerns in the highly participatory book signing sessions," notes the Councilor for Culture, Daniel Medina.
"There was high representation of small Lanzarote publishing houses that, overcoming the difficulties involved in the high production costs, are betting on local and Canarian writers, publishing titles with the level of any national publishing label," they highlight.
"The sales of books of different literary genres also sign a point in favor of the fair, where music and diversity of scenic expressions helped the artistic climate that Yaiza and its visitors breathed, surrendered to creation," they acknowledge.
From that same Thursday, the center of the square exhibited the premonition written by the southern poet Jaime Quesada: "Fiera that gently bites the reader's heart and leaves a wound of love that radiates happiness".
