The XXVI edition of Teaching Art will be inaugurated this Friday, May 3, at 8:00 p.m., at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture with the conference "'The cinema, a place full of art. Educating together with others and, often, thanks to others', by the teacher and collaborator of the Spanish Film Academy, Mercedes Ruiz Casas.
Mercedes Ruiz, a teacher based in Madrid with extensive experience in the development of audiovisual projects in educational centers, will star in the inaugural conference under the premise of pursuing a dream consisting of media literacy being a reality in educational centers.
Teaching Art 2019, organized by the Lanzarote Teacher Center with the collaboration of the Arrecife City Council through the Department of Culture, offers a meeting space for teachers who wish to share their works. For this edition, coinciding with the centenary of César Manrique, the relationship between art and nature was proposed as the guiding thread of the exhibition.
Concert by the San Ginés Polyphonic Choir and other activities
After the inaugural conference, there will be a concert by the San Ginés Polyphonic Choir and the collective and individual exhibitions will be inaugurated, which can be visited until May 31. In this edition, the guest artist is the teacher Mar Romero Rocío from CEIP Costa Teguise, who will exhibit her pictorial collection.
The rest of the activities will be included in a general program of events that will take place in most cases in the main lobby of the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture in the afternoon during the cultural week from May 3 to 10.
As in previous editions, Teaching Art will offer the grand finale of its program with a musical concert in El Charco de San Ginés, in which some of the teaching groups that are presented will participate.
