Many men, women and children entered the Cueva de Los Verdes on Saturday afternoon to learn about the story of 'Taro', a unique, family-friendly and bilingual show where oral narration and vernacular music from Lanzarote merge to tell the story of a boy who was born and raised in Lanzarote, among the volcanoes of his beloved island. A show with which its creators wanted to recognize and pay tribute to the most universal painter, sculptor and creator that Lanzarote has had, César Manrique.
'Taro' is an original idea by the narrator Isabel Cabrera, the singer Acoraida Cabrera and the musician Alejandro Cabera, in which they take a trip to the interior of Lanzarote through the senses, image, voice and music. A show in which viewers delve into the traditions and idiosyncrasies of the easternmost island, also discovering who the protagonist is and his importance for Lanzarote.
Isabel, Acoraida and Alejandro managed to make the public travel with them without missing an iota of each phrase pronounced by the narrator, of Alejandro's musical chords and of Acoraida's sweet and temperate voice. With this show, in addition to paying tribute to César Manrique, its creators wanted to look back on the past and recreate the history of an island that deserves to be remembered by the people of Lanzarote and known by all who visit us.
In this year in which the centenary of Manrique's birth is commemorated, it is also intended to expand its dissemination to schools and institutes so that children and young people discover who Taro really is, through narration and music.
