The potter Doña Dorotea de Armas Curbelo (Muñique, 1899 - Camino de las Montañetas, 1997), posthumously, and the writer Félix Hormiga will be the new Honorary Puppies of the Order of the Canarian Puppy in Lanzarote. Both will be invested after the celebration of the assembly corresponding to the first semester of the year, which will take place this Saturday, the 29th, at the Hotel Lancelot Playa in Arrecife. The investiture ceremony is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. in the hotel halls.

With this distinction, the Order in Lanzarote seeks to recognize the trajectory of institutions and people who stand out for their work in the preservation, transmission and defense of the Canarian identity, as well as the customs and traditions of Lanzarote. It also rewards their commitment to the conservation and dissemination of values ​​linked to Canarian culture.

Doña Dorotea stood out for introducing the traditional aboriginal figurines in the iconography of her pottery works. One of her most notable works is «The Bride and Groom of the Boundary Stone», inspired by pieces found in archaeological sites from pre-Hispanic times. Félix Hormiga has cultivated theater, painting and writing. He has also worked as an editor. His work is characterized by a continuous reflection on the Canarian reality, from its most individual and concrete aspects to the most collective and historical ones.

Throughout the years of life of the Order of the Canarian Puppy in Lanzarote, the artisan Don Juan Brito, the César Manrique Foundation, the artist César Manrique posthumously, the La Era restaurant, the El Patio Agricultural Museum, the Torrelavega Cultural, Recreational and Sports Society, the painter Santiago Alemán Valls, the Los Campesinos Folk Group, the timple player Benito Cabrera, the Tanit Ethnographic Museum, the Historical Archive of Teguise and Los Diabletes de Teguise have been distinguished so far.

Also the businessman Don Juan Rosa, the artisan Don Eulogio Concepción, the Parranda de Marinera de Buches, the Pancho Lasso Art School, the naturalist Alejandro Perdomo Placeres, the aeronautical engineer Dionisio Canomanuel, the El Grifo Wine Museum, the naval engineer Manuel Díaz Rijo, the photographer Javier Reyes Acuña, the musical group Trío Lanzarote, the wrestler Inocencio Morales Pollo de La Vegueta, the timple player Domingo Rodríguez El Colorao and the announcer Francisco José Navarro.
