The Tourist Centers of Lanzarote announce the arrival of 'Arrecife de Las Músicas' to the Islote de La Fermina. The popular and recognized cycle of concerts and debates that traditionally takes place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria opens a venue on the island with a "very special" edition, which will feature artists such as Héctor Alterio, who will participate together with Juan Esteban Cuacci and La máquina del tango in a tribute to the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla.
From the Cabildo they inform that the invitations to attend the concerts of Arrecife de Las Músicas, which will be held in the Islote de la Fermina, and the inaugural debate table, which will take place in the CIC El Almacén, "are free until completing the capacity established by the sanitary regulations, and can be obtained, individually, on the website of the Tourist Centers. In addition, the Entity will launch "a row 0 for those who wish to make a financial contribution for the benefit of those affected by the eruption of the volcano in the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park, in La Palma."
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, and the CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, welcome "Arrecife de Las Músicas to Lanzarote", and encourage the population to participate in an initiative "with which we want to give a boost and relaunch the cultural sector, so punished by the pandemic and, at the same time, make visible, once again, the solidarity of the people of Lanzarote with the people of La Palma."
Programming of 'Arrecife de Las Músicas'
The Cabildo details that 'Arrecife de Las Músicas' will start at 7:00 p.m. next Friday, October 22, at the CIC El Almacén, with 'Violeta Parra, the seed of the neo trova', a debate table on the Chilean composer moderated by the journalist, writer and DJ, Lara López, and in which the Chilean singer Manuel García, the Lanzarote musician Toñín Corujo and the Gran Canaria jazz singer, Gabriela Suárez, will have a voice.
That same day 22, at 8:00 p.m., the Islote de la Fermina will host the concert of the Chilean singer Manuel García. Author of more than half a dozen albums that have earned him the National Music Award in 2008 and the Gardel Award in 2020 for "Best Conceptual Album", he is currently working on Caminante. To perform his best-known songs, which fuse Latin folk-rock, popular song or electronic pop-rock, he will be accompanied by Sol Escobar, an Argentinean with Colombian roots, who released her latest album in 2018, La dama oscura, in which you can hear rancheras, boleros and tangos.
The brilliant Héctor Alterio will close that first day, accompanied by Juan Esteban Cuacci and La máquina del tango, will star in 'Tribute 100 Piazzolla. Lo que vendrá' with which they will pay tribute to the Argentine singer-songwriter. In addition, with 92 years and a career of more than seven decades, he received the Goya de Honor in 2003. A well-known face in series such as 'Canguros', '7 vidas', 'Cuéntame cómo pasó' or 'El barco', among others. He has also participated in great productions such as 'Volver', 'El nido' or 'La tregua', among many others. It will be in the Islote de Fermina, at 9:15 p.m.
On Saturday, October 23, at 8:00 p.m., the space of the capital's marina will be the stage for 'Trovadores del siglo XXI', a concert by the Canarian singers and composers Fajardo and Marta Solís. Born in Majorero, Fajardo navigates between alternative rock, folk and indie, styles present in works such as 'Fajardo', 'Malcortado', 'El Generador', 'Muñeco', 'Dividir F/M', 'Arrullo magnético' or 'El baile', albums in digital format to which other creations were added after the pandemic: 'En casa' and 'A6A'. Along with him will be Marta Solís, a composer and performer from Tenerife who has three productions: 'Promesa', 'Sin límites' and 'Nido', the latter Canary Music Award. Currently, she is preparing the launch of 'Canto y semilla', where she assures that she 'embraces' root music.
After them, the stage of the Islote de la Fermina will host Carlos Mendes, who, starting at 9:15 p.m., "will star in the last concert of the day'", 'A festa da vida', the name of his latest record. The Portuguese singer, who began his career in 1976 and has participated twice in the Eurovision Song Contest, will perform the songs from the album he released in 2018 after having participated in several television programs, films and series.
