The concert 'Echoes of Women' captivated the numerous audience that gathered last Sunday afternoon next to the stage in the Islas Canarias Park, a production of the Acatife Popular Music Group under the musical direction of the young Alejandro Machín, the vocal direction of José Antonio Elías and the artistic direction of Nahúm Cabrera, the 30 members played their tuned instruments accompanying with their voices the 14 women, all from Lanzarote, in charge of putting their powerful voices, each with different and very personal nuances, infecting the audience in each of their interventions with songs that Acatife has recorded on their albums, original compositions such as: The Devil of Timanfaya, Cruz del Mar, Isa to the 8 Islands, Song to the Villa or Las Plañideras among others.
The concert Echoes of Women, was organized by the Culture Department of the Arrecife City Council led by Abigail González on the occasion of International Women's Day. The attending public enjoyed a high-level show where the smallest detail was carefully taken care of, where the complicity of the 14 participating women and the 30 members of Acatife achieved the set objective, and then some.
Proof of this were the prolonged applause that sounded throughout the concert with an apotheotic ending, where a devoted and standing audience asked them to continue, a request that Acatife complied with by performing the song El Bucherito.
The Acatife Cultural Association was created in 1983 by some very enthusiastic and innovative young people on an island like Lanzarote in those years accustomed to traditional music and dances, traditions that have been respected throughout these 41 years providing a rich content in each of their musical compositions which have become chronicles reflecting the events that have occurred in Lanzarote.
