The Torrelavega Cultural, Recreational and Sports Society kicked off its 75th anniversary celebration this Thursday with the opening of the exhibition "History of Torrelavega.

The event was attended by people linked to the world of culture, sports and politics of Lanzarote. Toñin Ramos, president of the entity, was in charge of welcoming. Ramos thanked the presence of all those who came to share this first act. The Society was founded in 1944 and has been a reference in Arrecife and on the island in general, having its doors open for all those who have wanted to be part of this family in the different sports and cultural stages.

On such a special day, Toñin was very mindful of all the previous presidents and their respective boards of directors, but in a very special way he remembered Edmundo de la Hoz, a very emotional moment where his words were interrupted and supported by the applause of the public.

The exhibition that houses the three floors of the building is part of the history that during these 75 years has been made possible by the men and women who, in an altruistic way, have collaborated so that culture continues to advance as a reference of a society that looks to the future with hope, with new projects involving the new generations in them.

The event included speeches by Félix Hormiga, the Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alberto Aguiar, the councilor of the City Council of Arrecife, María Jesús Tobar, councilor of Social Welfare of Arrecife and Celeste Callero, island director of Education.

After the speeches, the timplistas Alexis Lemes, José Vicente Pérez, the guitarist Adrián Níz and the voice of the solita Orlando Niz performed with their Timplefonías show. The songs of Canarian root together with the strength and determination of the voice of Orlando Niz managed to elicit the most sonorous applause of a day that will be followed by many more to celebrate the 75 years of a society committed to Lanzarote.
