The 'Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken' will return to Lanzarote for another year, although in this edition it will move to Arrieta and Puerto del Carmen. And, as reported by the Cabildo, both the City Council of Arrecife and that of Teguise conveyed their impossibility of hosting it as they had been doing in previous years.
In this regard, during the presentation of the event this Tuesday, the Culture Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Óscar Pérez, thanked the City Councils of Haría and Tías for "their quick response when just 20 days ago, and with almost no reaction time", they were proposed to "collaborate in the celebration of the Festival after, for various reasons, both the City Council of Arrecife and that of Teguise" conveyed "that they were not going to be able to host them as had happened in recent years".
However, the councilor considers that both Arrieta and Puerto del Carmen "will be two fantastic stages to host this festival, which from the beginning constituted a musical reference in Lanzarote by being far from the themes that were consumed at that time on the island", and has highlighted "the wonderful artistic cast" of this edition.
The Councilor for Culture and Tourism of the City Council of Tías, Amado Vizcaíno, has thanked the Cabildo "for the opportunity it has given our municipality to organize this important festival"; and considered that Puerto del Carmen "is, as the main tourist center of the island, a magnificent place to host it both for residents and visitors, which will also serve as tourist promotion of the destination".
Likewise, the Councilor for Youth of the City Council of Haría, Soraya Brito, has been "delighted" that this municipality hosts this festival "in such a wonderful setting as the beach of La Gartia", and has assured that from the northern Consistory will do "everything possible to continue being one of its venues in the future".
For his part, the director of 'Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken' and Colorado Producciones, Miguel Ángel Ramírez, has thanked the involvement of the three institutions in the organization of this festival "which has promoted the dissemination of jazz in the islands, building audience loyalty over the years" and of which he hopes that once again the attendees "will enjoy it very much".
Concerts
As reported by the Cabildo, La Garita Beach will host this Saturday, July 7, the concert in which two solvent groups will participate "that will make those present live a magical night of jazz", with the presence of the Canarian trio '3alDente' -whose sound is a laboratory of nuances, textures and colors and that offers a mixed jazz that drinks from jazz-rock or folk, and the 'Huntertones' that, currently based in New York, come from half the world and whose music reflects that mixture with an eclectic style that walks through jazz, funk, rock and soul.
For its part, Puerto del Carmen will see the "musical whirlwind" of 'Gilad Hekselman Trío' and 'Naughty Professor' unfold on Friday, July 20. 'Gilad Hekselman' has earned a huge reputation as one of the most promising guitarists in New York. His compositions highlight his openness to a multitude of influences of all kinds, classical music, rock, folk, as well as African, Israeli and North Indian music. For its part, 'Naughty Professor' is an iconoclastic sextet based on New Orleans jazz funk whose live performances are volcanic explosions of energy. The best jazz, soul and R&B resonate in their albums and concerts.
Both concerts will be at 9 p.m. and with free admission. The Canarias Jazz & Mas Heineken is organized by Colorado Producciones with the sponsorship of the Government of the Canary Islands, the co-organization of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the collaboration of the City Councils of Haria and Tías.
