The Cultural and Artistic Association Ars Magna is developing during the present month of February the initiative 'Parallel Action', a project subsidized by the Youth area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote through which the audiovisual culture related to comics, the art catalog, the photobook and fanzines is being brought closer to young and old people of the island.

"From the Cabildo we continue to promote and support initiatives that encourage youth participation, that offer our young people spaces for leisure and creativity and that promote an intergenerational approach," says the Councilor for Youth of the first island corporation, Myriam Barros, who last week was present at a photography workshop coordinated by Rafael Arrocha, which was taught within the programming of 'Parallel Action'.

'Parallel Action' began on February 7 with a program of activities that, so far, has included workshops on photographic strategies, on food from a didactic and artistic point of view, and on surrealist art and visual language, as well as a meeting with comics and a short film series.

The Insular Library is being the scene of a large part of the programming of this initiative, although within it actions are also being carried out at the Pancho Lasso School of Art, at the IES San Bartolomé, as well as at the Arrecife Day Center for the Elderly, promoting an intergenerational exchange between the users of the center and their grandchildren or young people close to them.

The programming of 'Parallel Action' will come to an end on the 25th of this month with a double event. On the one hand, the Insular Library will host another meeting with comics, which will begin at 11:00 am and will feature the participation of Ifrabe and M.J. Tabar, who will talk about their joint project 'Dear Monstrosity'.

Later, from 12:00 noon there will be a final meeting at the Ars Magna Space, in Puerto del Carmen, "where there will be talk about books, images and projects that are underway around all the topics covered during 'Parallel Action'", say from the organization.
