In a spring atmosphere, under the fronds of the trees in the Plaza de Los Remedios, the "Fiera del Libro 2023" (Book Fair 2023) began yesterday in Yaiza. More than "a hundred people" supported the first day of celebration of the fair this Thursday, which has returned with "an unequivocal will to remain and travel through all the municipalities of the island", acknowledges the Cabildo.

Tomás Pérez-Esáú, president of the Association, highlighted "the importance of reading in the construction of a free citizenry with criteria" and remembered the recently deceased Alexis Ravelo, collaborator and friend of the association, whom the Fair honors by naming one of its rooms after him.

The afternoon opened with a contemporary dance performance by Acerina H. Toledo, who danced cradled by the verses of the poet Jaime Quesada, composed specifically for this edition.

In addition, the Tenerife writer Rafael Arozarena was named Adopted Son of Yaiza, at the "Benito Pérez Armas" House of Culture.

Regarding the program, the writer from Gran Canaria, José Luis Correa, opened fire, presenting his latest adventure starring the detective Ricardo Blanco, "The Caged Station." During the conversation, "the intricacies" of the creative process and a preview of what his next novel will be were revealed, says the Cabildo.

Afterwards, the coach, Ana Albiol, spoke about emotional management and self-knowledge, aspects that her biographical essay "To the Death with Life" covers.

The literary promotions of this day ended with the dramatization of "How to Title Heartbreak", by its author, Víctor M. Bello, who added music, theater and affection to his presentation, accompanied on stage by Ángela Luque.

The morning of this Friday, April 28, has been allocated to school visits, in which around 600 students from different centers on the island will pass through the facilities in two shifts, they report.

Throughout the weekend, from ten in the morning to ten at night (except on Sunday, when the Fair will close its doors at two in the afternoon), there will be other presentations of new releases, bookstore and publishing stands, the autograph booth, children's and youth activities, school visits, theater and music, they collect.
